The EVAHEART Left Ventricular Assist System (LVAS) has been developed for people whose left ventricle, the main pumping chamber of the heart, cannot adequately pump blood to other parts of the body. To learn more about the EVAHEART LVAS, click here to watch a short documentary by Today in America. The system consists of components implanted inside the body as well as parts located outside of the body.

The Blood Pump is the main component of the EVAHEART LVAS that is implanted inside the body. Placed just below the heart, it is made of titanium and is about the size of a tennis ball. The Blood Pump assists the heart by pumping blood from the left ventricle into the aorta, the main artery that supplies blood to the body.

The Blood Pump is operated 24 hours a day by a Controller, which is carried by the patient. The Controller must be powered using either rechargeable batteries when the patient is on the go or an adapter when an electrical outlet is available.

A provided Carrying Bag provides a compact and convenient way to carry the Controller and other required accessories. To prevent frequent packing and unpacking, the Controller batteries can be replaced or the Controller can be plugged into an electrical outlet with an adapter all without removing the Controller from the bag.
