SUN MEDICAL TECHNOLOGY RESEARCH CORP.

EVAHEART MEDICAL USA, INC. (“EMUSA”) is a joint venture of Asahi Kasei and SUN MEDICAL TECHNOLOGY RESEARCH CORPORATION, or Sun Medical.

EMUSA aims to develop, gain regulatory approval and market the EVAHEART Left Ventricular Assist System (LVAS) and other related devices in the United States. Kenji Yamazaki MD, PhD, a cardiothoracic surgeon at Tokyo Women’s Medical University in Japan, began developing the EVAHEART LVAS in the early 1990s at the University of Pittsburgh for the treatment of congestive heart failure in patients. EMUSA was founded in October, 2002 for the purpose of introducing the EVAHEART LVAS into the United States market.
