Overview of the EVAHEART LVAS

The EVAHEART system from Sun Medical Technology Research Corporation is a continuous flow left ventricular assist system (LVAS). It has been developed for patients suffering from severe heart failure who are candidates for cardiac transplant.

The EVAHEART LVAS Blood Pump assists the native heart by pumping blood from the left ventricle via an Inflow Cannula, and into the aorta through an Outflow Graft.

The EVAHEART Blood Pump is controlled by an external Controller, which houses the Emergency Battery and a continuously-filtered, re-circulating fluid system called the CSU. The CSU creates a hydrodynamic bearing inside the Blood Pump and flushes the shaft seal. The Controller is powered by an AC/DC Adapter or two rechargeable External Batteries which are utilized in series. Other external components consist of a Battery Charger, Carrying Bag, Emergency Controller, and
Outer Belt. An External Monitor is provided for inpatient monitoring.
